House of Lavande was established in Palm Beach, Florida in 2006 by jewelry connoisseur Tracy Smith.
The House of Lavande vintage collection spans the 20th century from 1920’s Machine Age Bakelite, atomic glam 1950’s, to Studio 54-era Lucite and gold. The expertly curated collection of over 10,000 pieces contains such distinguished designers as surrealist Elsa Schiaparelli, keystone crystal pioneer Schreiner, 1960’s society darling Kenneth Jay Lane, as well as classic rarities by Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin and Chanel.
For Lavande’s edited vintage look and artisan standard, Smith has traveled the world, combing flea markets from Paris to London, estate sales and private dealer stock from Toronto to Beverly Hills, handpicking a definitive selection that has established House of Lavande as the premier name in collectible vintage costume jewelry.
In June of 2012, Smith launched a collection of her own designs inspired in part by elements from some of her most admired vintage pieces. After a decade spent collecting, she was well acquainted with the market, the materials and the subtle details that make vintage both endearing and enduring. She began to feel a pull towards creating her own vision through design. Collecting is an act of appreciating the beauty and nostalgia that each piece tells a story. Designing is the act of creating your own history.
The collection encompasses both subtle layering items as well as bold statement pieces with always a nod in reference to pieces from her archive. The House of Lavande original collection is made in Florence, Italy.
